finally got around to updating the shop again (after a minor shoulder injury this week and other nonsense), take a look if you like :) there are some new designs and new prints as well!

it's hotter than pancakes here (i wish it was fall so bad right now, i wilt in hot weather). graham and i have been re-painting the floorboards, hiding in our room with the fan full blast and soon we'll be eating fancy sandwiches for dinner. a good, sturdy, productive day!

i have a question:

a fond farewell

dear everyone!!!
i have two big announcements. one is that i have finally opened my etsy shop called "septembear". prints and paintings to come very soon, but for now i have my painted lockets (as seen and sold out on the shiny squirrel) and ghost guides. i will be adding more lockets this upcoming week. please spread the word or take a look if you like :)

the second news is that i have decided to up and leave livejournal. i of course will still read everyones journal (so it'd be lovely if you still kept me on as a friend), but i have moved onto blogger. i am kind of sad about this, but i just got really bummed out with all the awful ads and dumb stuff going on with livejournal lately (that doesn't seem to be going away anytime soon) so i thought it'd be best to move onto another wonderfully nerdy (though in many ways more preferable) site. i'm still going to be making the same ole silly posts and would love it if you kept in contact with me as i love you all dearly :) also i am told there is some kind of feed where you can add my blog to your livejournal and presto! it's like i never left!

hey portlandeers!
please oh please if'n you can, make it down to together gallery (2314 ne alberta st.) tomorrow night for the family quilt show. many wonderful and wonderfully talented people are in it (including some of my extra favor flavs julianna and graham). i am also in the show with tiny creepy paintings about my winterpear spear hunting tribe! pictures to come soon.
drinks, music, holiday sweaters and happy people abound! how can you resist? also you can check out the window i designed (all finished by tomorrow afternoon hopefully!) and how much you hate/love/meh/feel the holiday vibes/want to kick me in the shin (from) it maybe.

please forgive my rambling, my poor little brain is very tired lately.

novembears invasion!

i cut off all my wild, long, long hair this morning. i look like i belong in the great gatsby with my new flapper hair! i promise i'll post pictures very soon. i'm kind of scared to go outside and see people i know because they'll probably have a heart attack! but anywho, i kind of love my new short hairs. they are very low maintenance, and that is my favorite part.

been painting and preparing and singing pretty songs.
tonight i am doing fun things (like watching my stories with julianna), and eating my new fancy bagels. last night was really fun too, (mimi, we should probably make every monday a mimimosa night, scouts honor i won't be late this time)!
also, i think i may try my hand at a new star map since they're shifting a bit for winter.

here are beautiful things that exist over our heads and around us forever :)

my only consolation is that i am mostly a "handmade pledge" consumer, and that i got most of my family's gifts bought or figured out right now. i cannot wait to get paid and buy myself some of this stuff! onto the list:

first days of november

here is a passage i always loved. i'd prefer a strawberry runner life.

an autumn star map i made.
the show went so well! thanks and hugs to everyone who came, bought my paintings and ghost guides but especially the ever dapper graham, (who hung all my flippin' paintings while i ran around the gallery like a decapitated chicken, protected me from creeps with a didgeridoo, bought me french fries and helped make my ghost guides possible through his own sweat and blood, round of applause for graham!), julianna! yayyy!, anja & dallas (hip hooray!), and ariel (p.s. i am so coming to the mending party today).

if'n you missed it, the show's up for a month at ponyclub . i highly rebeccamend you go check it out, if only to buy theo's book "capacity", because it's some of the most inspiring, beautiful artwork one ever could see.

today is wordstock in portland. i have a feeling i might be making *jam comics somewhere, sometime today. this will be new and fun since i have never made a jam comic.
*("jam comic" is probably the cutest two words to ever marry. i know jam comic means jamming out and drawing with other jammin' drawing folks, but i just think of somebody spilling raspberry jam all over a drawing and going "hey that works!").

still looking for jobs and dreadfully poor, but life is pretty darn wonderful! leaves are brightly changing! i'm healthy with a roof over my head! my drawing hand is in good working order! i have a quesadilla in my belly! what on earth could i possibly complain about?

p.s. this is what i wore on halloween and to the show on thursday (minus the face paint)

taken by julianna. now you may all know that i am the epitome of nerdtastic.
(i am my alter ego, "sharp fanged wherefox in a garden" in case you were wondering). i would love to dress like this everyday, and also wear lots of fangs and feathers and sequins, but i know that'd make a spectacle of myself and i wish it was normal to wear claws and fangs and feathers and sequins.

p.p.s. i am seriously dissapointed in prop 8. man up people! we're all human beings created equal remember?

i must catch up some!

we went to pumpkin patches on sauvie island earlier this month. it was beautiful. our pumpkins are now carved and a'sittin' on our roof.

i am having my first real fall and it's lovely.

ALSO! this is coming up fast. 2 person show at pony club gallery with the awesomely talented (and awesomely nice) theo ellsworth! my half is called "a great big mountain" and his is called "the impossible picnic". it is also a book release show for his graphic novel "capacity" that just came out. it's incredible! this show is quite an honor for me because theo is one of my art heros. try to come portlandeers, it should be quite a fine spectacle.
also i will also be selling ghost guides and new lockets at the opening so that you too can understand and identify what a "phantasmia muntine" is, what ghosties like to eat, and so on.

i am 22 today! when i was a little girl i never imagined life after 21, so 22 is truly uncharted territory, anything could happen. why, by the end of the day i could turn into a crane or a narwhal or something! i am sadly quite under the weather still, so i guess actual parties are postphoned until i lose my unsettling ability to spread germs.
all that aside, i refuse to let that put a damper on my day :)
i'm getting breakfast and gelato and maybe buying myself something nice and julianna got me flowers and JOLIE FLIPPIN' HOLLAND TICKETS (wheeee thank you julianna!!! i'd squish you in a hug again but i don't want to infect you) and my buddies back in california all just called me and screamed "HAPPY BIRTHDAY I LOVE YOU!!!!"

*my record player works well again after some kicking and tinkering

rosemary bread recipes last (this part's for you especially anja!):
you will need
4 cups flour
2 heaping tablespoons rosemary
2 heaping tablespoons of yeast
1 tablespoon of salt
1 tablespoon of sugar
1 cup soymilk
1 cup water
1/4 cup olive oil

heat up milk, water and olive oil on the stove until just barely above room temperature. pour into dry ingrediants and stir until it's a perfect, sticky little blob. cover the dough in your mixing bowl with a towel and let it rise for about 50 minutes (it should have doubled in size). when the time's up, stir the dough down and pour it into a greased loaf pan. set the oven at 350 degrees and cook for about 35-45 minutes (depending on your oven)

i highly rebeccamend eating the bread fresh out of the oven with goat cheese and tomato slices :)

also, a new painting season has begun for me. i have a lot of pumpkins, politics, church stairs, tantrums and pinatas on the brain.

i found a book my parents made for me. they made a lot of books for me when i was little. this one is full of pictures of things i loved when i was 3. looking through it i clearly have not changed much. i still love tomatoes, tornados, corn, drawings of diamonds, red shoes, trains and bugs with wings.

also here is a beautiful video i wanted to share. it has been my theme song for years now.

i'm very tired but i can't sleep! i've been brainstorming stormy seas, lockets, and pressing flowers all night. i cannot sleep because my head is full of green sea explorers, swifts and flowers! does that make sense? no? good.
